Mary Armour was a Scottish Still Life and Landscape painter born in 1902. She studied art at the Glasgow School of Art form 1920 to 1925, and would later teach there there from 1951 - 62. However during the intervening years she was unable to teach at the Glasgow School because as a married woman she was barred from doing so. On her retirement from teaching in 1962 she returned to painting full time. Armour was a full member of the Royal Scottish Academy. She was also a former honorary president of the Glasgow School of Art and of the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts.
