Horace Mann Livens

Biography:
Horace Mann Livens was born in Croydon, London in 1862, son of a Colonial broker. He studied art for two years under Walter Wallis at the ‘Croydon School of Art’. Livens work was exhibited at the ‘Royal Academy’ from. 1890–1899, and the ‘N.E.A.C’ from 1896–1904, also at the ’Grosvenor Gallery’ and abroad. His first one-man exhibition was at the ‘Goupil Gallery’ in 1911. A Foundation Assosciate and from 1907 member of the ‘International Society’. Livens also illustrated E. V. Lucas's ‘London Revisited’ in 1916. He would continue to exhibit until 1929.
